One of the important proposal made in the budget is enhancing Weighted deduction of expenditure incurred on in-house R&D from 150 percept to 200 percent. But do fiscal incentives matter in deciding on R&D and if they matter for whom and for what type of R&D? what do experts say on this?......

Benchmarking IT competitiveness 2009
The report from Economist Intelligence Unit on global ranking of nations competitiveness places India at 44 of 66 nations. India does not figure in top 20 in any category other than Human Capital. As expected India scores 2nd lowest on IT infrastructure, a shade better than Bangladesh. Can be seen as opportunity area for investors due to low penetration of broadband / internet. Also known but generally ignored is our limited strength in R&D-India's 2nd lowest score is on R&D environment.
