MNCs offer to donate technologies to Social Entrepreneurs targeting poverty reduction.

Potential of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to reduce poverty by improving poor people’s access to education, health, government and financial services has led to many programs in India and Outside. Popular are ICT plans to help small farmers and artisans by connecting them to markets. Health and solar are another group of technologies leveraged by social entrepreneurs.

Capital remains main concern of social entrepreneurs , while technology deployed is undifferentiated/ open/ non-exclusive, the business plan netting the funding has to be innovative. The new generation social entrepreneurs are more comfortable with changing technology and plan to base their ventures on technology as key factor. And they need technology `free' and MNCs are willing to `donate' that technology.

NASSCOM Social Innovation Honours 2012

The awards aim to showcase projects that demonstrate best practices in using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for social transformation. Organizations/ Departments of Government / Individuals/ Students applying for the NASSCOM Social Innovation Honours should satisfy the following basic criteria:

• They should be registered Indian entities, or foreign entities with a registered presence in India. The innovation must benefit India, or a community in India
• The organization should be in existence in India for a minimum of one year
• The Project / Initiative should have been in existence at least for one year
• Students can apply as a concept or an idea

Social Business Plan Competition -Wantrapreneur 2011

Wantrapreneur is the annual social business plan competition organized as a part of Unconvention to identify enterprises with market ready solutions in the start-up and early growth categories across agriculture & other sectors that can impact rural lives.Last date 30th September 2011.

India Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2011

After successful 2010 Awards, The Jubilant Bhartia Foundation and Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship are inviting applications for the India Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2011. Three to four leading social entrepreneurs will be selected as finalists for the India Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The winner(s) will be announced in a ceremony coinciding with the India Economic Summit in November 2011 in New Delhi.The Award benefits for the winner(s) include eligibility to participate in the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The Award identifies and celebrates visionary social entrepreneurs who have demonstrated systems-change models and are at the stage of scaling/replicating their ideas across India and in other countries.
