Global Cleantech innovation Programme 2016 (GCIP) - Last date 15th May 2016

The United Nations Industrial Development organization (UNIDO) runs a Global Cleantech Innovation Programme in India in association with world's largest clean technology accelerator (Cleantech Open USA) under the aegis of the ministry of MSME. The Ministry of MSME in partnership with UNIDO launched the GCIP Programme in 2013 for promoting Innovations in the Indian SMEs in clean technologies. Achievements of the 2015 
programme:

•  Out of the twenty semifinalists, investors screened six for advanced stage of funding. 
• The national winner and the runners up got the opportunity to showcase their product in international investor summit in California last year. 
• Four participants got the opportunity to showcase their product in 'Festival of Innovations' organized in Rasptrapati Bhawan by the presidential secretariat. 
• An e-book and film detailing the innovations mentored under the programme in last two years has been released and uploaded on the MSME website.

Invitations open for 2016:

he programme is now inviting applications from all SMEs in India with Innovative products under the following eligible categories:

•   Energy efficiency

•   Waste to Energy

•   Renewable Energy

•   Water Efficiency

Kit for conversion of fossil fuel vehicles into Hybrid vehicles.

The Finance Minister said:
`In response to the growing demand for green ventures, a technology has been developed indigeneoulsy for the conversion of fossil fuel vehicles into Hybrid vehicles through the fitment of a kit. I propose to reduce the excise duty on such kits and their parts from 10% to 5%.'

New on-line tool to facilitate green technology patent searches

WIPO has launched an on-line tool that is linked to its International Patent Classification (IPC)
system to facilitate searches for patent information relating to environmentally sound
technologies (ESTs), as listed by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
(UNFCCC). The tool, the “IPC Green Inventory”, contains some 200 topics that are directly
relevant to ESTs, and each topic is linked with the most relevant IPC symbols.In addition to being linked to the IPC system, the IPC Green Inventory is hyperlinked to WIPO’s PATENTSCOPE® search service to automatically search and display all “green” international applications filed under the PCT.The IPC Green Inventory will help in identifying existing and emerging green technologies, as well as potential partners for further R&D and commercial exploitation. Samuchit Enviro-Tech

Samuchit Enviro-Tech Pvt limited a commercial associate of Appropriate Rural Technology Institute (ARTI) for commercialising energy technologies developed by ARTI.The products being marketed by SET address the problem of indoor air pollution. Long term exposure to indoor air pollution has an adverse health impact on women and children in rural households. According to World Health Organisation, indoor air pollution caused by smoke from traditional cook stoves is responsible for 2,000,000 premature deaths every year among women and children in the developing world.

Green Talents International Forum

In February 2009, the German Federal Ministry of Research and Education has launched an initiative to invite talented young researchers from throughout the world to visit the leading environmental technology location Germany. The 'Green Talents' competition under the patronage of Research Minister Dr. Annette Schavan addresses excellent young researchers and engineering scientists in the field of environmental technologies to apply for participation in the 'International Forum for High Potentials in Green Technologies'.The International Forum will take place in August/September 2009. For one week, the selected participants will travel through Germany, visit leading universities, research institutes and companies, gather specific information about research activities on site and learn about the possibilities of cooperating with German partners.
